Weekly photo challenge is ‘Masterpiece’ – the prompt shows part of Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, in Barcelona, and I agree that it is an absolutely amazing building. So many mind-blowingly different ideas all in one place – one of the most impressive buildings I’ve ever visited, and Barcelona doesn’t just have one of his buildings, they’re everywhere. Definitely a place worth travelling to.
The masterpieces I’ve seen today though are much smaller. Wildlife of course. I spotted a blue-tailed damselfly this morning by the new pond, but it didn’t stay for a photo. The garden was full of butterflies and bees again too. The most popular flowers are lavender, valerian, marjoram, hollyhocks, hebes and sea lavender. Butterflies up close are just stunning.

Oh wow! That first picture in particular has such incredible detail! Love them both, actually. I know you love nature but I bet photography brings an added layer to that interest. It really helps in spotting the things we might otherwise miss with a fleeting glance.
As for Sagrada Familia, it should be on everyone bucket list of must see buildings. Incredibly beautiful.

Photography is good for seeing detail – especially as my eyes are not as sharp as they used to be now.

Very cool photos! I love bugs up close, especially when they aren’t buzzing me.
August 4, 2013 at 7:25 pm
Mmmm – not to keen on being buzzed – especially by flies – ugh! We kept getting little flies in our apartment on holiday, and they kept landing on us early in the morning – very annoying!

So true. We rented a farmhouse in France once that was just lovely, until they brought the cows to pasture right next to the house. I didn’t mind the cows, but the flies that came with them were unbearable!

Oh yes – we had a horse field next to a holiday house a couple of years ago. Flies in the kitchen -loads of them – yuk yuk!

Beautiful, especially that second one.

Thank you! (Sorry for slow response – I’ve been on holiday.)
